Outrage: Russia To Destroy International Space Station After 2020
"Russia and its partners plan to plunge the International Space Station (ISS) into the ocean at the end of its life cycle after 2020 so as not to leave space junk, the space agency said on Wednesday.
`After it completes its existence, we will be forced to sink the ISS. It cannot be left in orbit, it`s too complex, too heavy an object, it can leave behind lots of rubbish,` said deputy head of Roskosmos space agency Vitaly Davydov."
On-orbit construction of the International Space Station (ISS) began in 1998 and was completed this year.
Most Americans are under the impression that the ISS will orbit the Earth indefinitely, but it has a very short life cycle. This incredibly expensive space ship will be decommissioned and destroyed sometime after 2020.
This begs the question: Why did we empty our coffers to finance a project that will be obsolete after just a few years? After 13 years we finally finish building the ISS, and we`re going to destroy it in 2020? Does this make any sense? You don`t have to be a rocket scientist or a physics professor to discern that some folks in NASA have been smoking too much weed.
When SkyLab, the predecessor of the ISS, fell to Earth on 1979 it caused a mini-panic, imagine the panic that will ensue when the ISS falls into the Pacific Ocean a few years from now.
No wonder America is in a debt crisis; I wish the morons at NASA would share their weed with me. Right now I could really use a joint.
