Country Stars Get Warm Welcome In Sonoma County At 'The Country Music BBQ'

By Mimi Amaral

When one thinks country music the first thing that comes to mind is Nashville, but times are changing and country artists received an enthusiastic welcome in Sonoma County.

On August 21, 2011 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, Harmony Festival Presents put on the `First Annual Country Music BBQ.`   People were lined up for city blocks to buy tickets to the concert, and it was estimated that 7,500 tickets had been sold.

The talent didn`t stop there, however, Luke Bryan with his energetic demeanor and infectious smile owned the stage and crowd, especially when he sang `Rain is a Good thing` and `Country Girl (Shake it for me).` While Dierks Bentley with his humble and endearing charm rocked the stage and brought it home with his overall performance and song `Am I the Only One.`

Kodiak Jacks country female dance group also performed between acts on the main stage.  Additionally, Rob and Joss from Froggy 92.9 radio station promoted and introduced some of the artists at the event.

McKenna FaithThe massive turnout for the Country Music BBQ has proven there is a passion and place for country music in Sonoma County.  I`m sure it`s safe to conclude it won`t end here, so keep your eyes and ears open for the announcement of the second annual `Country Music BBQ` happening again next year.
