Brave Chef Frees Young Bear From Trash Cage With Mom Bear Lurking Nearby

By Robert Paul Reyes

"The owner of a Colorado lodge said her chef freed a young bear wedged under a cage designed to keep animals out of an outdoor trash bin."

The owner of the lodge and her employees could have simply waited until an animal control officer showed up, but the hapless bear was in distress, and so the chef jumped into action. Even though the mother bear was lurking nearby he freed the poor creature.

I commend the chef for his compassion and bravery, the owner, Denise Kristoffersen, should give him a raise.

I`m glad the bear wasn`t trapped outside of a restaurant in Kentucky -- the chef would have shot the bear and the unfortunate creature would have been on the menu that same day.

If you are an animal lover who lives in Estes Park, Colorado, you should patronize the Wild Basin Lodge & Event Center.
