"Jack Engelhard is the one who conveys emotion without emotion." - Linda G. Shelnutt, Author and Book Critic

Jack Engelhard, author of the international best-seller Indecent Proposal`s latest work, Escape from Mount Moriah: Trials and Triumphs of a Kid in a New Homeland takes the reader on a heartfelt journey to a time when hate was looming over Europe like a dark cloud waiting to release a storm of death and suffering.

This memoir relates to the physical and emotional displacement Jack felt during his childhood as well as his family`s escape from Nazi-occupied France during the time of the Holocaust.

Escape from Mount Moriah consists of eighteen compelling short stories on what it meant for the author and his family to be poor, to be Jewish, and to be survivors.

According to Chris Lepped, Jewish News, Denver, "... the refugee stories Engelhard preserves are boyhood memories of an almost Tom Sawyer character, albeit with ironic Yiddish twists, adventurous, humorous, sometimes wonderfully strange."

Motivated by legacy, Jack`s inspiration for the book was his children.

"Yes, the children. It`s so important for them (and their whole generation) to know--and to never forget. The children must be made aware that the freedom they enjoy today in America--and too easily take for granted--comes with a responsibility to appreciate and respect the past," says Jack Engelhard.

Jack Engelhard is an American novelist, born in Toulouse, France. He is widely known and acclaimed as a novelist whose themes touch on deep moral dilemmas. Engelhard wrote the international bestselling novel Indecent Proposal that was translated into more than 22 languages and turned into a Paramount motion picture starring Robert Redford and Demi Moore. His award-winning book of memoirs "Escape From Mount Moriah," newly released in paperback, has been honored for Writing (MPA) and Film (CANNES). Engelhard`s themes have been termed "powerfully seductive" by The New York Times, which also acclaimed his prose for "precise, almost clinical language."
