Hart of Dixie's Love Triangle Heats Up

By Paulette Cohn

On tonight`s episode of Hart of Dixie, Lemon (Jaime King) and George (Scott Porter) are ready to buy their dream home until Lavon (Cress Williams) steps in and refuses to authorize the purchase allegedly because it is one of Bluebell`s historic properties -- or is that the real reason? Could it be that Lavon isn`t ready to give up all hope of his secret relationship with Lemon by allowing her engagement to George to move forward?

"It is a small town. Once these relationships come to life, you still have to get on with day-to-day life. I think the skeletons in the closet need to be put away in order to survive," says Williams. "There are repercussions due to the history. Scott and I have talked about the fact that [our characters] have known each other for a while and probably have been good friends because we both left and had experiences outside of the South. Anything that happens with Lemon affects our friendship."

The one thing that executive producer Leila Gerstein and the actors want to make clear is that the problem between Lemon and Lavon isn`t racial. "I can`t reveal why they are not together, but we are not Friday Night Lights. I loved Friday Night Lights. I think it handled all these issues in a believable way, but we are not going for hyperrealism in Bluebell," Gerstein says.

"It is just two people trying to figure out what is changing and what is not and they are still very invested in each other. It is difficult and it is real life," Porter says.

And King adds, "It is like any other relationship where you hit roadblocks... It is not racial. It is something that more people can relate to."

When asked if the much-talked-about wedding between Lemon and George would take place this season, Gerstein will only say "possibly," while King admits, "I will know when I go into my costume fitting."

Also on tonight`s episode, while driving home late from a house call, Zoe (Rachel Bilson) accidentally hits a man with her car but can`t find any signs of him when she gets out to see if she can give him any medical attention.  Later, she sees his photo hanging in the Rammer Jammer, and George has to break the news to her that the man in the photo died more than a year ago.

Then, Zoe`s mom (guest star JoBeth Williams) shows up in Bluebell hoping to reconcile with her daughter after keeping the identity of Zoe`s real father a secret from her daughter her entire life.

"Hart of Dixie" airs Monday nights at 9 p.m. on The CW. hartofdixie_jamieking_cresswilliams_225_thecw_michaeltackett
