Did Teen Really Lift Buick To Free Grandpa?
"A 15-year-old Michigan boy says he has no idea how he was able to lift a 2,000-pound Buick enough for his grandfather to escape from underneath.
Austin Smith said he was working on the 1991 Buick with his grandfather, Ernest `Papa Ernie` Monhollen, at his grandparents` Ida Township home Saturday when the car fell from the cinder blocks holding it up and trapped Monhollen underneath."
One of my pet peeves is old farts who cruise along at 25 miles per hour on the freeway behind the wheel of an old car built like a tank. If I saw an old guy trapped underneath a behemoth Buick, I would walk on by thinking "It serves him right."
If I saw Angelina Jolie trapped underneath a car, I would be so eager to impress her, that I would find the strength to lift the vehicle.
I simply don`t believe Austin Smith -- are there any witnesses to his amazing feat of strength? No! Any videotape evidence? No!
I should write an article about how I saw a bus with 20 nuns hanging over a cliff, and how I pulled the bus back on the road.
Smith credits adrenaline for the miracle, he should credit chutzpah.
If Smith really did save his dear old grandpa, I`m sorry, but we live in very cynical age.
