Copper Thief Breaks Into Prison

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Police in North Carolina said a bold thief broke into a minimum security prison and stole the copper from an air conditioning unit."

The correctional officers at the Piedmont Correctional Institution deserve to be reprimanded for their lax security. Piedmont may be a minimum security prison, but a thief shouldn`t be able to break in with impunity to steal copper.

Both the prisoners and the correctional officers will be suffering without air conditioning, at least until the air conditioner is repaired. Maybe the officers would have been more vigilant, if they knew that it was copper wire from an air conditioner that was going to be stolen.

The thief deserves praise for his remarkable boldness, his successful caper will be talked about for a long time. He took a huge risk, he has earned the right to bask in the glory.

I wouldn`t sleep easy if I lived in Salisbury, I imagine it`s just as easy to break out of the prison as it is for somebody to break in.
