UN Chief Ban Condemns Terrorist Bombings In Russia

Ban Ki-moon has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks that occurred in Dagestan, Russia, last week, that have reportedly killed at least 13 people and left more than 100 injured.

According to media reports, the first blast went off on Thursday evening on the outskirts of Makhachkala when a car laden with explosives was detonated near a traffic police checkpoint, causing no fatalities.


A second car bomb reportedly went off 15 minutes later, hitting policemen, rescue workers and passersby who had gathered at the scene.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson on Friday, Mr. Ban expressed his deep sympathy and condolences to the victims of these heinous acts " and their families, and to the people and Government of Russia.
