By SOP newswire

National Executive Committee of National Panthers Party (NPP) appealed to the leadership of the UPA as well as NDA and the Left to understand the aspirations of the largest democracy of the world on the choice of the next President of India. The NPP Chairman, Prof. Bhim Singh disclosed that the majority of the public opinion favours Dr. Karan Singh as the next President who in spite of his affiliation with the Congress stands above party politics. 2000 notables from different fields of life were interviewed by the Voice of Millions Publication. More than 75% favoured Dr. Karan Singh. His clean image, immense knowledge of Vedas and Shastras besides his deep understanding and respect for all the religions which makes him the right successor of Dr. Radhkrishnan weighed heavily in his favour.

The Chairman of NPP also released the copy of the appeals addressed to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson, UPA, Mr. L.K. Advani, Leader of NDA,  Mr. Prakash Karat & S. Sudhkar Reddy, leaders of CPI(M) & CPI. Prof. Bhim Singh also released the appeals made by him to Samajwadi Leader, Mr. Mulayam Singh Yadav, BSP leader, Mrs. Mayawati, TMC leader, Ms. Mamata Banerjee, AIADMK leader, Ms. J. Jayalalitha, RJD leader, Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav, INLD leader, Mr. Om Prakash Chautala, Janata Dal (S), Mr. H.D. Deve Gowda, AGP leader, Mr. Praful Kumar Mahanta and other state party leaders.

The NPP Supremo said that because of the conflicting political interest of the political parties, there is no possibility for having a consensual candidate. Under the circumstances and situation there is need to have consensual candidate who is above party politics and free from any accusation or charges of corruption or otherwise. He said Dr. Karan Singh is the only person among the candidates who have surfaced in connection with the Presidential poll. The NPP Supremo said that Dr. Karan Singh has only one disqualification and that is his  `birth` being born in Royal family. The  `birth` should be kept out of qualification of the presidential candidate.

The NPP Chief also prophesied that Constitution of India shall be amended in the near future to elect the President directly in the interest of the survival of the largest democracy in the world to end political anarchy, blackmail and unnecessary exploitation.
