14th Annual Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival (MIFF) 2012 Sets New Records

14th Annual Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival (MIFF) 2012 Sets New Records

By SOP newswire2

The Melbourne Independent Filmmakers Festival set two new records this in its 14th year: in attendance and fundraising.
The festival started with a bang with a wonderful culinary experience with the chefs from the new PBS show Real Food Real Kitchens. Things got crazy with a comedy show featuring the comedy stylings of Dana Snyder (Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Adult Swim), Lear Bunda (Adult Swim), Brian Studler (Brothers & Sisiters,), Brooks Braselman (The Space Coast) and Pat Martin and Billy Tracey(WhatarePatandBillyDrinking). An encore showing of Herschell Gordon Lewis` new classic "The Uh-Oh Show!" finished the night on Friday!
A day of Florida films and communication with and between filmmakers was memorable. Everyone enjoyed meeting Ruth Reynolds all the way from the west coast who is the star of Michael Baumgarten`s new film "The Guest House".
The big news is that we sold out Saturday night!
An enthusiastic audience enjoyed a traditional Lion Dance on the red carpet and everyone loved the dragon thanks to the Wah Lum Temple who supported the great documentary by Mimi Chan "Pui Chan: Kung Fu Pioneer". The support for Paulette King`s premiere of her new film: "Forgiveness Lessons of Life 101" was spectacular and there wasn`t an empty seat in the house.
With the help of great sponsors and all those in attendance we were able to raise-
$13,109.00 for The No Limits Academy
$1,100.00 for The Children`s Hunger Project
Special thanks to our Academy Level Sponsors - Premiere Theaters, Treasure Coast Dermatology, and Bill and Karen Slover.
Special thanks to our Star sponsors - A Cut Above Video, Inc., Brevard Live, Browning`s, Terrence Cronin, Sr. MD, Famous Faces & Funnies, Florida Beer, Laserchrome, Tom Loomis "Tommy Tricks", Space Coast Film Commission, Space Coast United Filmmakers Association, Ullian Realty
