Troops Receive A Sweet Treat From Home Reminding Them of the Gratitude Felt By Their Fellow Americans

By SOP newswire2

Harry & David kicked off the semi-annual ³Support Our Troops with Moose Munch® Bars² program on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, which allows families, friends and supporters of the U.S. military to purchase the popular Harry & David® Moose Munch® treat and send them domestically to military families as well as to war zones, for sweet enjoyment by our men and women in service. The program launched just in time for Veteran¹s Day when we honor those that have served our country and will continue on through December 24th.

The iconic American gift curators have once again teamed up with Soldiers¹Angels, a non-profit agency that ships care packages to U.S. soldiers in combat, to deliver the sweet taste of chocolate to our troops. Since fall of 2010, nearly 300,000 Moose Munch® Bars and Bites have been shipped to soldiers in military bases abroad, through the ³Support Our Troops with Moose Munch® Bars² program and Harry & David donations.

³Soldiers¹ Angels is a stellar organization that we, as a brand, are so thankful for,² said Craig Johnson CEO of Harry & David. ³Their mission of providing aid and comfort to members of the U.S. Armed Forces is something that touches very close to home for us. We are honored to be able to provide a small dose of comfort to the soldiers fighting for our freedom.²

Harry & David retail stores nationwide, excluding seasonal gifting centers, will offer customers the opportunity to purchase Moose Munch® Bars and gift them to soldiers with a personalized greeting message. Each bar and note is packaged with a plastic spoon and sent to Soldiers¹ Angels to be dispersed to military bases in war zones abroad as well as to local US based military families. At many military bases, the 100-degree heat melts the signature chocolate, caramel corn and nuts confection into a lusciously gooey treat that makes it easy for our soldiers to enjoy the sweet taste of home. With most perishable dessert items not capable of being sent into war zones, we continue to hear that Moose Munch® Bars are one of the most requested items from soldiers serving in combat.

Moose Munch® Bars retail for $2.95 each. For Harry & David store locations nationwide and for more information, visit us at www.harryanddavid.com, show your support by ³Liking²us at www.facebook.com/HarryandDavid, or follow us on www.twitter.com/HarryandDavid.
