Pig Left Outside of Houston Mosque a Possible Hate Crime

By SOP newswire2

This morning, the Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Texas) joined interfaith leaders for a press conference at the Islamic Outreach Center-Cypress (IOC-Cypress) to repudiate the apparent hate crime of a dead pig left at the mosque.

Members of IOC-Cypress were shocked to find a dead pig left on the Mosque deck yesterday during evening prayer time. Police and hate crime reports have been filed.

Mustafaa Carroll, executive director of CAIR-Texas stated:  "It is very alarming to see a house of worship being targeted with such an offensive gesture. It compromises the Muslim community`s sense of safety. We ask for everyone`s support during this time. We ask that law enforcement investigate this incident and the perpetrator be held accountable. There is no place for hate targeting houses of worship. The increase of Islamophobic rhetoric in American society is contributing to these unfortunate occurrences."

The mosque will be installing a security system.
