New Study: Unhealthy For Airplane Passengers To Hold It In! Fart Away!

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A new study finds that breaking wind while one is flying is healthy and recommended.

AFP reports that Danish gastroenterologist Jacob Rosenberg got the idea for the study after dealing with flatulence from several passengers during flight from Copenhagen to Tokyo.

`(Holding back) holds significant drawbacks for the individual, such as discomfort and even pain, bloating, dyspepsia (indigestion), pyrosis (heartburn) just to name but a few resulting abdominal symptoms,` the study stated."

The inflight passenger announcements need to be amended:

Ladies and gentlemen, the Captain has turned on the Fasten Seat Belt sign. If you haven`t already done so, please stow your carry-on luggage underneath the seat in front of you or in an overhead bin. Please take your seat and fasten your seat belt. And also make sure your seat back and folding trays are in their full upright position. Finally for your health it is strongly recommended that you don`t hold gas in, let it rip to your heart`s content.

What is the proper etiquette for farting on a plane? Should you give your seatmate a warning that you are about to break wind, or should you just lift your butt and pass gas like there`s no tomorrow?

It might be good for the individual`s health if he farts with abandon, but if everyone on board cuts cheese the air will quickly become unhealthy for everyone.

We already have to put up with crying babies, cranky flight attendants, and passengers who look like terrorists, the last freaking thing we need is passengers farting like it`s going out of style.

One last thing I would like to point out is that according to Rosenberg`s research a woman`s fart smells worse than a man`s. So why is it that every time somebody farts at the dinner table, it`s poor dad who gets blamed?
