"Doctors in Brazil said a man was lucky to escape death and avoid brain damage when he shot himself in through the eye with a harpoon gun.
Bruno Coutinho was cleaning his harpoon gun at his Petropolis home when the gun accidentally fired, sending a harpoon through his left eye and into his head.
Coutinho avoided brain damage, but lost his left eye. Coutinho is expected to be discharged from the hospital within a few days."
It`s a miracle the harpoon didn`t pierce a major artery or cause major brain damage. Of course, it could be argued that a man, who accidentally shoots himself through the eye with a harpoon gun, has a sub-standard brain anyway.
It won`t be long before gun control advocates demand that harpoon guns be banned:
If harpoon guns aren`t banned people will be shooting themselves in the eye, when they aren`t shooting whales, and whale-like creatures like Rosie O`Donnell.
On a serious note, I`m amazed by Coutinho`s presence of mind; he was able to call for help despite the pain.
Coutinho is lucky to be alive, and I wish him a speedy recovery.
