Tubby Tabby's Fat Belly Saves Its Life: Video

By Robert Paul Reyes

"A Canadian cat was recovering Saturday after being shot with an air rifle, but its owner said it would have been worse if not for its fat belly.

Rikki Smith of Manitoba said the pellet that struck her tubby tabby was absorbed by a layer of blubber, preventing damage to vital organs."

As the owner of a cat that weighs 22 pounds this article caught my attention. I don`t let my fat cat or my skinny cat venture outdoors; there are way too many dangers for felines. Keep your cats inside, where they will be safe from dogs, cars and air rifles.

I love my fat cat, but I`m not proud of his girth. I adopted Tico from the Humane Society a couple of months ago and I intend to put him on a diet. Chubby cats are cute, but it`s not healthy for them to be carrying around so much weight.

The tubby tabby`s fat belly may have saved her life, but her extra pounds will lead to an early death. If your cat is obese consult your veterinarian to get its weight under control.
