Couple, Ages 90 and 89, Plan Wedding
"A 90-year-old man and an 89-year-old woman who met at their Wisconsin assisted-living facility said they are planning their wedding for this weekend.
Ernie Bartell, 90, said his wife of 65 years, Audrey, died in April, but he felt he had lost her to Alzheimer`s disease years ago, so when he felt himself falling for Harriet Novak at the Harmony Living Centers in Franklin he decided not to waste any time."
A 90-year-old man asking an 89-year-old woman to marry him is the epitome of optimism. This happy couple`s days are numbered; their honeymoon may be in paradise.
I just hope that when Ernie asked Harriet "Will you marry me?", she didn`t think he said "Will you bury me?" When you are that old, death and funerals are always in your thoughts.
I shouldn`t be so pessimistic, I wish Ernie and Harriet many happy days of wedded bliss.
