Cheerleader Mikayla Clark Performs 44 Back Handsprings: Video

By Robert Paul Reyes

"An Atlanta cheerleader broke a Guinness World Record during a football game by performing 44 consecutive back handsprings.

Mikayla Clark, 16, a junior at Westlake High School, performed the feat during her high school`s homecoming game, breaking the previous record of 36 consecutive handsprings, WSB-TV, Atlanta, reported Wednesday."

In my prime I couldn`t perform more than two consecutive back handsprings, today if I tried one back handspring I would be risking a heart attack or a broken neck.

Mikayla has been cheerleading since she was four, and I`m sure that with her drive and determination, she excels in many things not just cheerleading and performing back handsprings.

But she`s an inspiration to those of us who have only one area of expertise or one unique talent. Try to be the best at what you do, there`s no shame in "failing" and only becoming the 2nd, 3rd or 100th best.

Mikayla`s impressive gymnastic display lasted only 34 seconds.

Here`s one cheerleader who deserves cheers from all of us! You go girl!
