Are You OK With Mural Of Smiling Vagina In A Junior High School?
"There`s nothing that brightens the day more than a smiling vagina. However, a street artist`s rendition of a smiling vagina painted on the staircase of a junior high school in Sweden has sparked a heated debate about censorship.
The mural is the work of Gothenburg-based graffiti and mural artist Carolina Falkholt, who features vaginas frequently in her work. But the placement of this particular vagina was deemed inappropriate by local politicians and last week, the municipal head of children, youth and cultural affairs in Nykoping announced that a decision had been made to paint over the mural."
Upon further review local officials said they are willing to entertain debate as to whether the mural is appropriate for a junior high school.
The vagina in question isn`t a gynecological depiction or a pornographic illustration, if you walked by the mural you`d think it was a big smile, nothing more, nothing less.
Sometimes a big smile is more than a big smile; it`s a big vagina beaming proudly.
Most people wouldn`t have a problem with a mural featuring a huge smiling vagina, on the wall of a museum. A gigantic smiling vagina may represent heaven to the average man, but it symbolizes female empowerment to the fair sex.
I`m not intimidated by a mural of female genitalia, regardless if it is smiling, frowning or winking. But is this controversial work of art appropriate in a junior high school?
I imagine that junior high children in Sweden or no different than their counterparts in America, and most of them have seen hardcore pornography online. After viewing dozens of videos and photographs that exploit female body parts, is it so bad if they are exposed to art that celebrates a vagina?
Call me a liberal pu***, but that`s my two cents worth...
