Barbra Streisand Makes Billboard History With Number One Albums In Each Of Her Six Decades In Music
"Barbra Streisand has made Billboard chart history becoming the first artist ever to reach number one in each of the past six decades after her new album Partners reached the top of the summit this week. Her eighth number one made up of duets with some of the world`s biggest stars, comes fifty years after her first after shifting a staggering 196,000 copies during its first week in the US alone.
The diva claimed her first chart-topping album way back in 1964 with People, before hitting the top spot with The Way We Were (1974), Guilty (1980), The Broadway Album (1985), Back to Broadway (1993), Higher Ground (1997), Love Is The Answer (2009) and her latest, Partners (2014). And she doesn`t even look a day over 50!"
Barbra Streisand is a singer, songwriter, author, actress, film producer and director, but she is most beloved for her exceptional singing ability.
Streisand achieved superstardom in the genres of Broadway, jazz, and traditional pop, but her appeal transcends genres and generations.
With the possible exception of Adele I don`t see any current pop star with the talent to maintain a successful career that spans multiple decades.
Jazz and traditional pop have never been my favorite styles of music, but Streisand has always been in my personal playlist.
I know buying albums isn`t cool, but make an exception for Streisand`s new CD.
