Minnesota's Giant Paper Ball Sets Guinness Record: Video

By Robert Paul Reyes

"The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency said a 426-pound wad of paper created to represent the state`s waste has been awarded a Guinness World Record.

The MPCA said the paper ball, which measured 9 feet, 7 inches tall and 32.2 feet around, was dubbed the world`s largest ball of paper by Guinness."

The Guinness World Record organization has officially jumped the shark; they certify so many records for dubious achievements that recognition from Guinness means next to nothing.

If I called Guinness to inform them that my morning bowel movement looks remarkably like Miley Cyrus, before the day is over they will send a representative to certify my record for: Human Excrement that mostly closely resembles Miley Cyrus in appearance, smell and texture.

The humongous paper ball was created to demonstrate how much paper Minnesotans throw out in an average 30-second period.

This may be a bogus world record, but at least the giant ball of paper may inspire folks to recycle paper.
