Kitten Survives Being Carried Away By Hawk

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Animal rescuers in California said a 5-week-old kitten carried off by a hawk survived when the clumsy raptor dropped it out of the sky.

Riverside County Animal Services said in a Facebook post Jurupa Valley resident Lindsey Gage and her 6-year-old daughter, Jaylie, saw the hawk take off flying from a neighbor`s basketball hoop just before 1 p.m. Tuesday with the white kitten in its talons, but the bird didn`t get far before the kitten slipped from its grip and fell to the ground below."

Thank goodness Lindsey Gage was there to rescue the kitten before the hawk could return for another attempt at making a meal out of the poor little thing.

The kitten escaped his ordeal with a minor chest wound, but he used up at least a couple of his nine lives.

The person who adopts this beautiful kitten should name him "Lucky. "

Outdoor cats face many predators, not just hawks; I hope this story will serve as warning for cat owners to keep their pets inside.
