Bill Cosby, With His Uncle Tom Smile, Hated by White and Black Communities
Bill Cosby with his grating Uncle Tom smile preached personal responsibility to the black underclass while using his celebrity, wealth, and power to abuse and degrade young, vulnerable women.
When Cosby`s decades of perpetrating sexual assault on aspiring starlets could no longer be ignored or whitewashed by the mainstream press, the disgraced comic pleaded with the black media for fairness telling a New York Post reporter last year: I only expect the black media to uphold the standards in excellence in journalism and when you do that you have to go in with a neutral mind.
The black community in general and the black media in particular steadfastly remain loyal to their icons when they fall from grace, witness how blacks have stood by OJ Simpson and Mike Tyson. These celebrities may be anathema to the general population, but they are still accepted and even loved by the black community.
Cosby`s desperate plea to the black media to provide him with a fig leaf to cover his despicable behavior failed miserably, he had long ago burned his bridges with the black community. The list of famous black celebrities who still publicly support him has dwindled to Whoopi Goldberg and Raven Symone.
Everyone hates a moralizer who doesn`t practice what he preaches, and blacks abhor a black celebrity who denigrates poor blacks to ingratiate himself with the white power structure.
At a 2004 NAACP awards ceremony Cosby told a comfortable crowd of mostly black attendees that the black community`s reputation was being undermined by poor promiscuous black women and deadbeat black fathers to polite applause.
It turns out that a well-educated billionaire black celebrity has undermined the reputation of the black community more than thousands of promiscuous black women and thousands of black deadbeat fathers ever could.
