Tumbleweed Invasion From Hell Terrorizes Australian Town: Video

"A fast-growing tumbleweed dubbed `hairy panic` has engulfed a street in a rural town in Australia, clogging up homes, gardens and garages.

It has left residents in Wangaratta, Victoria, complaining of the hours it is taking them to clear their properties of the menacing weed.

The wild tumbleweed has been around for a couple of years, but it is thought dry conditions have made this summer the worst."

I have seen tumbleweeds only in old westerns -- one or two tumbleweeds blowing through a deserted street used as a symbol of desolation and impending doom.

Now imagine a wall of tumbleweeds engulfing your home and your neighborhood, the residents of Wangaratta might interpret the invasion of this weed as a sign that their neck of the woods will be transformed into a Mad Max nightmare.

One or two tumbleweeds give me the heebie-jeebies, a wall of the pernicious weed blowing in my direction would cause my heart to explode.

The local council has refused to help with the clean-up as the weeds are not considered a fire risk. The local council is totally unequipped and unprepared to deal with this nightmare. The residents of Wangaratta need to get down on their news and pray that the Almighty will rain down lightning bolts and burn away the weeds and their village, cleansing the evil and stopping it from spreading.
