Duke, a Dog, Re-elected Mayor!

By Robert Paul Reyes

"Nine-year-old Duke, a Great Pyrenees, handily won another one-year term as mayor of the small northwestern Minnesota town of Cormorant, Detroit Lakes Online reports.

`I don`t know who would run against him because he`s done such great things for the community,` Cormorant resident Karen Nelson told Detroit Lakes Online.

The locals say Duke has one of the highest approval ratings in the country.

Detroit Lakes Online reports the dog was unavailable for an interview, but his media people said he`s more than ready for a third term."

Duke, an adorable pooch, has won another one-year term as mayor of a small Minnesota town.

That made me think: What if a presidential term was only one-year? Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have the potential of destroying our democracy in four years, wouldn`t it be great if we could kick whoever wins to the curb after only one year?

Duke is not as exceptional as you might think, over the years there have been several cats and dogs who have won mayoral elections. The Constitution needs to be amended so that a canine can run for President of the United States. If a puppy ran as a 3rd party candidate against Hillary and Trump, he would win in a landslide.

Our country is going to the dogs, and only a pooch can save us.
